AMTA-Alabama Chapter President’s Report – July 2016
I just wanted to take a moment and let everyone in our membership know what’s been going on in the AMTA-AL Chapter over the last 90 days. It’s been right at three months since our Spring Convention in Orange Beach and since I took office. Even though most of you can’t see it, there’s been a lot going on with the board members and volunteers.
We have been actively planning for the Fall Conference, scheduled for September 24th & 25th. Our Education Chair and 2nd Vice President, Krissy Warren, has secured Bliss Wood for a 10-hour Thai Yoga Bodywork CE course. Our Events Planning and Hospitality chairs and volunteers are actively working to secure the location for this conference. Membership and Social Media/Website volunteers are gearing up to help with advertising for the Fall Conference while keeping up with their monthly volunteer responsibilities. And they are accomplishing all this while dealing with a newbie president who has lots of questions and is constantly asking for things to be done a little differently than before. Our volunteers are doing a superb job.
I had the honor of attending the June National Board Meeting and work sessions in Tampa, FL. It was very exciting to see how our national board and volunteers function and to learn how what they do benefits each and every member in Alabama.
I have also taken on a very special project that I hope will make volunteering on the board and committees easier in the future. Over the last three months I have created a Chapter Google Drive for our board and volunteers. This information repository holds as many historical documents as I’ve been able to get my hands on, including past meeting minutes, articles of incorporation, and notes from continuing education classes. We will be instituting processes so that new documents are automatically placed in our Google Drive as they are created or received. I know it sounds boring to most, but for incoming board members and volunteers it should serve as a valuable resource.
So that’s what’s been happening in the background. If you have questions or if you’re interested in helping with our chapter, please let us know.
I hope you will all save the dates for our Fall Conference and make plans to join us!
